Heels and Hills Celebrates National Running Day with a Free Race
Wednesday, June 3 at Sam Houston Park in irving, Texas

In celebration of National Running Day on June 3, we’re offering a simple chip-timed 5K race for free. 

National Running Day celebrates what we at Heels and Hills are all about – getting people active. For this special day, we’re all encouraged to get outside and walk or run, doesn’t matter if it is 15 minutes or 45 minutes!  You can feel good just knowing that this could be the start of a great new habit and you are making yourself a little bit healthier.

In the spirit of keeping it simple…

  • There will be no aide or support of any kind available on the course.  So bring a fuel belt or water bottle if you will want water or sports drinks during the 5K.  We’ll have water at the finish line.
  • We’ll have pizza afterward – maybe you’ll meet a new running buddy to train with!
  • There will be no race results printed up after the race or awards given out, but we’ll post results on our website that night and submit them to the newspaper.
  • Since it’s free, there’s no race shirt. 
  • You must submit the online form below before Tuesday, June 2, if you would like to be chip timed.
  • With the mile markers out on the course, you can do less than 5K if you would like but please don’t wear a timing chip if you won’t be doing the full distance.

Wednesday, June 3 – Get there at 6:30 pm to pick up your chip, and the race starts promptly at 7 pm.

Sam Houston Park at the NW corner of Valley View and 635/George Bush Turnpike service road.

From George Bush Turnpike:
Exit Valley View
Turn right, heading South/West approx .5 mile
Turn right at stop light (Valley View/635 Svc Rd)
Park is immediately on the right

From Hwy 635 East:
Exit Riverside
Turn left at stop light (Valley View)
Turn left at stop light (635 Svc Rd)
Park is immediately on the right

From Hwy 635 West:
Exit Valley View
Continue West on 635 service road through the stop light
Park is immediately on the right
