A low cost event that's all about having fun and staying active in the middle of the hot Texas summer!
In the spirit of keeping it simple and very affordable …
- Entry fee is "a dollar a K" for whichever distance you choose, so the 5K is $5, the 10K is $10, and the 15K is $15.
- Pre-registration is simple and required and, best part, involves no processing fees! You must pre-register online before Saturday, August 8, at 5 pm. THERE IS NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION. Click here to pre-register... There is a separate sign-up for each distance. If you are registering someone else, please put their info in for shipping name/address/email address.
- After you signup online, there is an email you need to send for us to properly chip time you. The info is on the registration page (link is up above). You will not be included in the race results if you do not send in this info!
- All entrants are chip-timed with the IPICO timing system.
- For ease of timing, if you change the distance you'll be completing and don't notify us by 6:10 am (20 minutes before the race start), your finish time will not be included in the final results.
- There will be a water station every 2-3 miles on the course. The water stations are self-serve (the cups will be setting out on the table for you to grab one as you pass). We encourage you to bring additional water if you will want it more often and to bring sports drink if you will be needing it.
- The miles will be marked with chalk on the trail. The only signs on the course will be the turn around point for each distance.
- There will be no awards/trophies. Race results will not be printed at the event. Race results will be posted on the H&H website that night and submitted to the newspaper.
- There’s no race t-shirt.
- There will be water and a post-race snack available at the finish line for when you complete the race.
- Remember that the focus is on staying active and having fun while doing it!
Sunday, August 9 – Chip distribution begins at 6:00 am and the race starts promptly at 6:30 am.
The start and finish lines are located at Richardson Grove Park. There is NO PARKING available at Richardson Grove. All participants will need to park at Sam Houston Park and then follow the RACE START and RUNNERS THIS WAY signs, across the bridge, to walk the short quarter mile down the trail to the race site.
There is one portalet at Sam Houston Park, and then there is one portalet at Richardson Grove Park. We suggest using the portalet at the parking location when you first arrive before walking to the race site.
Sam Houston Park is located at the NW corner of Valley View and George Bush Turnpike/635 Westbound service road. Look for the RACE PARKING or RACE START signs.
IMPORTANT: This can be a confusing location of intertwined highways and highway access roads so if it is your first time coming to this area, please plan to arrive extra early, follow the directions below very, very carefully. If you miss any one of the turns, a u-turn is not easy and it will take a while to return back to the location. Since this is a new park, the government has not assigned the park a physical street location yet, and it is not shown on many maps.
When viewing the link below, Sam Houston Park is the blank green area slightly above and to the right of exit 29B.
